The 27 Nosler was designed by Nosler to be a 21st century upgrade to the .270 caliber cartridges like .270 Winchester, .270 WSM, and the .270 Weatherby, that offers increased velocity and downrange performance. It's based on the .28 Nosler case but necked down to .277. The larger case capacity allows for more powder and an ability to stabilize heavier, higher ballistic coefficient bullets.
