Muzzle Centering Plugs, 350 Legend

Published February 10, 2020

February, 2020
It’s the New Year, SHOT has come and gone and we’re experiencing record order levels–for both standard and special tooling. Our staff is doing its best to fill them in reasonable time, and we ask for patience if your order is taking longer than you’d like. “Specials” are now taking 8-10 weeks from order acceptance to completion, and will likely require 12-14 weeks if placed in late March or April. If you’re planning on hunting with your project rifle in the Fall, NOW is the time to start.

The 2020 Catalog has been posted on our website. You’ll note that,  unfortunately, we’ve had to raise prices on a few items, due primarily to increases in the cost of materials or outside services.

Muzzle Centering Plugs                                                                                                         New for this year is our line-up of Muzzle Centering Plugs, listed on page 8 of the Catalog and shown in their “working location” on the Catalog cover.

These Plugs allow accurate centering of the bore at the muzzle without having to use a 4-jaw chuck. A Plug, fitted with the appropriate pilot bushing, is inserted in the muzzle of the barrel, which is then supported by a live center in the tailstock.  Accurate machining of the muzzle for brakes and suppressors is able to be done substantially faster than with traditional methods.

Muzzle Centering Plugs utilize our standard reamer pilot bushings (#1, 2, 3 and 4) for work with bores from 5.45 thru 50-cal. There are two Plug head sizes in each of the #1, 2 and 3 spindle sizes to ensure the Plug head will be smaller than the minor thread diameter being cut. There is only one head size with the #4 spindle.  Please contact us with any questions you may have about this new product.

350 Legend Reamers and Gauges
In spite of its slow initial acceptance by shooters, we’re seeing increased interest in the 350 Legend. This has allowed us to manufacture reamers and headspace gauges for this caliber in larger quantities, thereby reducing their price to our customers.

No longer priced as special-order items, roughing and finish reamers for 350 Legend are available from stock at $130.00 each (solid pilot), or $170.00 (removable pilot). Headspace gauges are priced at $40.00 each.

As always, please contact us if you have questions about any of the tools we make, or if we can assist you in the design of your personal project for this year.
